Dana – Bridal Portraits

April 28, 2009

A couple weeks ago, I dropped off my kids at school, hopped in the car, and headed out for a little road trip. Things have been a bit crazy around here lately and I had been feeling a little tense. As I drove, the traffic on 1604 didn’t help to ease that at all. Finally, though, I merged on to I-10 and traffic eased as the road opened up to the awesomeness that is the Texas Hill Country. I cranked up the music and smiled as I soaked it all in — the road, the hills, the beauty. It felt good. Finally, I reached my destination, the home where Dana spent her teen years and where her mom and dad still live… a beautiful home on the grounds of the summer camp that they help to run. We spent the morning laughing and talking as we shot Dana’s bridal portraits, and it didn’t feel like work at all. Thanks so much to Dana and her mom, Betsey, for a great day! I can’t wait for the wedding!

Becky – Senior Portraits

April 7, 2009

funny, colorful, crazy, dancer, glittery

Those were Becky’s five words that she chose to describe her style and personality. After a little more conversation, I discovered that she loved flowers and nature, so we decided to start out at the Botanical Gardens. We had a great time talking and getting to know each other as we walked around their beautiful grounds (my favorite is their Hill Country area with the wildflowers and rustic cabins!). After that, we decided a change of scenery would be nice and we headed down the road for pictures that would reflect a different side of Becky. Once again, I had a great time! Senior portraits are so fun because seniors (especially the girls) are up for anything! Here are some of my favorite shots from the day…

Sometimes…

April 7, 2009

Sometimes, when you call me, you will hear kids screaming in the background (I’m sorry about that!).

Sometimes, my “in office” hours are more like 9 pm – 5 am, than the typical 9 to 5.

Sometimes, you might come over to my house for a quick meeting or to pick up your pictures, and my children will ask you a million questions and try to show off for you and give you hugs when you leave.

For those of you who don’t know, I work from home, and I have two awesome kids (ages 2 and 4) and the best husband in the world. Things are crazy around here sometimes, but I want to take the time to say a huge thank you to all of you, my awesome clients, for making me (and my family) a part of your life. I feel so blessed to be able to hang out with you, to get to know you, and to have the opportunity to tell each of your stories with photography. With every picture, every conversation, or casual meeting, you become a part of our life, too, and it’s such a privilege. I hope you all have an amazing week!

Rebekah – Senior Portraits

April 4, 2009

Rebekah and I had been planning her portraits for a while, and finally, the big day arrived. As I walked outside to go to my car, I realized… it was raining. I called her and suggested that we might reschedule. Can we do it anyway? she asked. Hmm… I wondered to myself, maybe we could! So we ventured out, umbrellas in tow, and we ended up having a lot of fun! When it was all said and done, it even stopped raining! The cloud cover actually made for beautiful lighting, and I couldn’t get enough of Rebekah’s gorgeous skin tone! It’s just perfect in every picture! Thanks, Bekah, for a great photo shoot and for braving the elements!

Camii – Bridal Portraits

April 2, 2009

Camii is my hero. She is getting married, graduating from college, and moving to England all within the next two months! Any girl would be crumbling under the stress of it all, but when I met her last week for her bridal portraits at the McNay, she couldn’t have been more laid back. She just radiated a beauty and grace and calm that few have. She also brought her puppy, Samson. He’s only nine months old. (When you see the pictures you’ll see why that’s a little shocking.) He was just as relaxed as she was, and we had a great shoot! Thanks, Camii, for letting me capture your beauty and grace, and I look forward to the wedding next week!

Debbie – Portraits

April 2, 2009

Debbie called me not long after her daughter, Tricia’s wedding with an idea. Her husband’s birthday was coming up and she wanted to do something special for him. So we planned a casual photo shoot for her and their sweet dog, Lucy. It was a bright and sunny Sunday afternoon, and the shoot couldn’t have been more fun and laid back. Tricia came along with her dog and we all had a great time catching up on life since we last saw each other, and there was no shortage of laughter and conversation. Debbie went on and on about her sweet husband of 30 years. I love talking with married couples who truly love and enjoy each other even after years of being together. It makes me even more excited about my own marriage and what lies ahead — the fun, the joy, and the comfort of really knowing each other and sharing that real love. It’s so inspiring! Thanks, Debbie, for your laughter and inspiration, and your willingness to get out there in front of the camera even though you were nervous! You are awesome! Here are just a few of my favorite shots…

Lita – Bridal Portraits

April 2, 2009

When I met Lita and her fiance, Oscar, I knew they were dream clients. They are so laid back, friendly, and comfortable. You’ll be seeing their wedding photos here pretty soon. Their wedding was two weeks ago and it was so great! I’ll post that later, but for now I wanted to post a few of my favorites from Lita’s bridal session!

An Update

April 2, 2009

Okay, the time has finally come for me to get (at least somewhat) caught up on blogging. Things have been a little crazy over the past month or so with so many awesome photo sessions and the start of wedding season! Throw in a couple weeks of strep in our household, and not being able to do much, I am finally starting to get caught up on life.

Before I get to posting pictures, I wanted to give you a let you know about something new that you may or may not know about —

I am always looking for ways to make your experience with Powerhouse Studios the best that it can be. One of the things that I have really been working to improve is the online proofing and ordering systems, and I am proud to announce the solution, the Powerhouse Studios Online Storefront!

The new storefront provides many new features and benefits:

– Secure credit card processing
– Save your favorites for up to 90 days
– Build your own albums
– A growing number of new products (handbags, note cards, canvas wraps, and more)
– Easy navigation
– Check the status of your orders online
– and more!

I welcome you to visit the new storefront and send your feedback! How can we make it even better? Are there other products you’d like to see? Let me know what you think!

Okay. Now I’ll post some pictures for you. 🙂
